This striking house on Rijksstraatweg 22 in Hurdegaryp was built in 1913 for the director of the flax factory in Mûnein. With its elegant details and grand appearance, it became known locally as the little castle. The house is a special reminder of the region’s flax industry and of a time when Mûnein and its surroundings played an important role in Northeast Friesland. Today, it remains a remarkable piece of local heritage.
