Museum Dokkum is situated in the historic centre of Dokkum and was formerly known as Museum Het Admiraliteitshuis. The museum is spread across several historic buildings, including the seventeenth-century Admiralty building of Friesland and Groningen. A tourist information point is also located here.
Museum Dokkum presents 2,000 years of culture and history of Northeast Friesland, featuring historical everyday objects, folk art and Frisian pottery. The museum also holds an extensive collection of Frisian silver and an important textile collection. In a former warehouse dating from around 1800, now part of the museum complex, visitors can see a permanent exhibition about Boniface (c. 672–754), offering a unique insight into his life and his significance for Dokkum.
The museum regularly organises new exhibitions on a variety of themes. There is also a cosy museum café and a well-stocked museum shop. Experience the history of the Eleven Cities town of Dokkum at Museum Dokkum.
