Halfway along the Súd Ie boating route you’ll find the hamlet of Reidswâl. It’s a perfect place for cyclists, walkers and water sports enthusiasts to pause, unwind and enjoy the wide-open landscape. In the past (1888–1927), a dairy factory stood here.
The “always-out-of-the-wind bench” you see here was designed by Nynke Rixt Jukema and refers to a salt dome. This refers to the salt extraction that used to take place in this area. A little further on, near Eanjumer Kolken, there is a viewing tower designed by Nynke Rixt as well. The picnic table also refers to this history.
