Take a look

In front of the entrance to the Elfstedenhal, the “Tour of Tours” lives on through De Elfstedenrijder and the Wall of Fame.

This six-metre-high sculpture of a male skater pays tribute to the Eleven Cities Tour and its history. The names of the eleven cities are inscribed in Frisian on the granite pedestal, along with the names of the winners of every tour held. The monument brings together sporting achievement and collective memory, commemorating the men and women who completed the Eleven Cities Tour.

The sculpture stands in front of the so-called “11Stedenhal”, Leeuwarden’s ice rink, which takes its name from this iconic tour.

On the exterior wall of the ice rink, an impressive Wall of Fame tells the story of the tour through a timeline. One thing that stands out is that the timeline is not finished yet…
