Walk around Burgum

Are you in Northeast Friesland? Take a walk around the Frisian town of Burgum, the capital of the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel.

From the village's ice rink, where you can park excellently, you walk towards the Princess Margriet Canal. From there turn right so that you walk along the water of the Wide Ie.

You cross the Central As to go to the animal enclosure of the Wetter- en Willepark. Then turn right to the center of the village.

You pass several beautiful facades and the Jonkheer Hobbe Baerdt van Sminiaplein where the artwork of 'the dog with the table lamp in its mouth' is located.

Finally, you walk past the town hall and the fierljepschans back to the starting point at the ice rink.

Accessibility
This route is easily accessible for people who drive with a wheelchair or stroller. The paths you walk along are all paved and wide enough. You can combine this walk around Burgum with a visit to the Observeum: an accessible museum with observatory in Burgum and end with something tasty at Brasserie Om de Dobben: an easily accessible catering facility with a nature park all around.
