Friesland has many places where you can relax during your holiday, but there’s also plenty to do so for the adventurer! Below you can read some tips.
The Pitch & Putt course at Esonstad features golf that is a cross between midget golf and “real” golf. This is an 18-hole course that is free to use and enjoy by all-comers from the age of 8 years old. Want more active? Foot Golf is also possible.
Bamboekstieken. This is actually vaulting with bamboo sticks. Confused? Just try it at the Outdoor Veldboom in Earnewâld. You can also play bubble football, take part in archery, crate stacking, Highland games or recreate the Robinson expedition.
Those of you that enjoy fishing can collect a fishing rod at the Lauwersmeer. However, it’s always important that you catch something. The Lauwersmeer is home to bream, roach, zander, trout and of course, the wind. Above all, the lake has sea trout once again. It’s difficult to fish from the shore of the Lauwersmeer, but you’ll find it a lot easier if you wear a pair of waders. Excellent boat fishing can be had from the Vlinderbalg, the Oude Robbengat, at Oostmahorn and Lauwersoog. If you have your own boat, there are two slipways available free of charge at the Strandweg running along the Zoutkamperril. There are fishing boats to rent at the Jachthaven Lunegat (marina). If you would prefer to keep your feet on dry land, there is also a fishing pier.
