This cycling route is 42,3 km in length and passes lakes, waterways, ponds, undergrowth, reed fields, marsh woodlands, grasslands, thickets and peat bogs. It will come as no surprise that you will need to take a ferry at a number of points on this route. This will allow you more time to see more than 100 different types of marsh and meadow birds from close by, a wide variety of plants, and 20 different types of fish. A friendly gesture: on one of the ferries, the captain gives every passenger a liquorice ’dropje’.
The start is at Bezoekerscentrum (Visitor Centre) Nationaal Park De Alde Feanen in Earnewâld. This route follows the junction system.
