Museums in Northeast Friesland

In Northeast Friesland, you can easily find yourself in one of the special, small-scale museums. There are about 30 in the region, covering everything from history to art — each with a unique offer.

Learn more about the 1883 fishing disaster at Museum 't Fiskerhúske in Moddergat, or discover the process of turning flax into linen at the Flax Museum in Ee. Explore how people lived in the past at the Spitkeet in Harkema, the Sûkerei in Damwâld, or the Kollumer Museum. See traditional craftsmanship firsthand at the Scherjon Clog Maker in Noardburgum, where wooden clogs are still made daily. Kids will especially love painting their own clogs here.

You’ll find a full overview of the museums below — so get out and explore! Just be sure to check opening hours in advance, as not every museum is open every day.
